Each location will host live worship and speakers. The worship bands will rotate venue to venue, so every session will have a live band. Each venue will host at least two live speakers. There will be moments that are streamed between all locations so that we can experience pieces of MOTION All Together.
MOTION is a local church student conference that is founded on the belief that our faith is not meant to be idle, hidden, or contained but instead lived out in MOTION in Christ! We want to see this generation empowered by Jesus, equipped to make a difference, and living out their faith every day! In 2009, God laid a vision on the heart of our student ministry team to bring local church youth groups together from all over the southeast for one weekend. The vision for the weekend would simply be this: worship, prayer, and focused teaching on one thing- this generation putting their faith into MOTION. MOTION is now in its twelfth year as a conference and God is doing amazing things! It is our prayer that students and youth leaders leave the conference refreshed, equipped, and inspired to live their lives in MOTION at home, in the local church, in their cities, and around the world.
MOTION designed for junior high (6th-8th grade), high school (9th-12th grade), and college-age (18-22) students. Although we allow incoming sixth graders, we ask you to determine whether or not the individual student can handle the length of sessions and intensity of the conference. Adult student ministry leaders are encouraged to attend with the students they lead. We also allow groups of Youth Leaders to register without bringing their students if they’d like to attend with a leadership/team building focus.
If you are in student ministry or you are the leader of a group of students attending the conference you may purchase a ticket to attend MOTION. If not, thank you for understanding that this is a student conference and there are no additional seats available for general admission adults.

Although early registration and check-in will tentatively begin on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., the first session of the conference will not take place until 7:00 p.m. We open registration and check-in early to help accommodate those that are traveling from out-of-town. The conference will conclude on Saturday, July 25 at 4:00 p.m.
No. All conference events will be held on site at the Legacy Arena at BJCC.

No. While families are extremely important to us, there will not be childcare available during the conference and we are unable to accommodate children. Please make outside arrangements for childcare if you plan to attend MOTION. We greatly appreciate not asking for any exceptions.

Pricing for MOTION varies depending on how many registrants you are bringing. We recommend registering together for the maximum discount available. The registration fee covers your admission to all 3 days of the conference and the materials needed for the event. It does not include meals, transportation, or lodging.

All seating at MOTION will be divided into Seating Communities based on your registration date. Those who register first will be placed in the best Seating Community rotations. There are many benefits to this seating system, and we have organized it for your group to have the best conference experience possible! No. We only need the name of the Group Leader who will check in at the conference, the total number of attendees, and their age groups.
Yes. This enables each individual to check in by name at separate times if needed.

If you paid a $20 deposit, you will receive an email with further instructions on completing your payment for MOTION. You must complete your payment by April 1, 2020.

Tickets / Wristbands
You may pick up your wristband and lanyard between 12:00pm and 6:00pm on July 23, 2020 in the East Ballroom at the BJCC. We recommend coming early, as doors to the Arena open at 5:00pm.
Your wristband and lanyard serve as your admission for MOTION. Your wristband indicates your Community Group, your lanyard indicates your Seating Community for Main Sessions. You will receive an email in July with information about your Seating Community. Please check your email, print the document, and bring it to check-in with you to receive your wristband and lanyard on July 23, 2020.
Your wristband for MOTION will be determined by your age group- Junior High, High School, College, or Youth Leader. Each wristband will be used to help organize Community Groups and will not play a role in your seating in the Arena. You must wear your wristband at all times.
Yes, if your group consists of the same age-group. No, if your group consists of more than one age group. There will be no person assigned to a Community Group alone.
No. You will only need to send one adult representative (preferably the Group Leader whose name is on the registration) to check-in with us. We do not need individual names from your group, we only need to see your Group Leader. Please have your church information readily available, as well as the document emailed to you indicating your Seating Community.
We recommend that you stay on site for meals when possible. There are not many food locations in the vicinity of the BJCC that work conveniently for groups or with our conference schedule. For your convenience we will have reasonably priced food vendors on site for Lunch and Dinner on Friday, July 24, 2020 and Lunch on Saturday, July 25, 2020.
Because of the wide range of food allergies and dietary needs, we are unable to accommodate special requests regarding lunch or dinner at this time.
You can pack a lunch for your student. Individuals will be able to bring a packed meal into the Arena that is in a clear bag. Only refillable water bottles will be accepted. No coolers will be allowed.

If you are the group leader and you have pre-purchased meals for your group, one wristband will be provided per person in your admission packet. This wristband will serve as the meal ticket for your students for the duration of the conference. It is important that they wear it at all times. During meal times, each individual with a meal wristband will be able to pick-up their lunch or dinner on their own in their Community Group venue. This will alleviate the need for group leaders to pick-up all meals at one time. Leader meals can be picked up in the Youth Leader Track venue. We highly recommend that you set-up a meeting location for your students to gather during the breaks once they have been dismissed from their Community Groups.
In your registration packet you will receive a wristband indicating that you paid for meals. It is important that you wear this wristband at all times. Meals will be available for pick-up in your Community Group venue during your Community Group time. Simply show our team your meal wristband during the designated pick-up time and they will ensure you receive your meal.

No. The hotels we have listed on the website are hotels where we have negotiated discounted rates. We have also confirmed that these hotels are safe and acceptable for occupancy. Should you decide to book your own hotel, we recommend you look North, South, and East of Birmingham, avoiding areas to the West of the city and hotels located in close proximity to the airport.
If you are a large group staying downtown, and have previously stayed at the Sheraton or Westin hotel, please contact us to see if there are any transportation options available for your group- 205-439-4342. Beyond this scenario, MOTION is unable to assist attendees in finding transportation to and from the BJCC.
If your church staff is currently registered for the Grow Intensive at Church of the Highlands in July 2020, it is important to note that we will not be able to accommodate any student groups at the Intensive. If you are planning to bring your students to town with you for the Intensive, you will need to make alternative plans for them off-site. Yes – you can, but it must not exceed the dimensions of 14″ x 14″ x 6″.
We strongly encourage guests to not bring any type of bags, but have outlined what is permissible. Guests will be able to carry the following style and size bag, package, or container on-site at BJCC complex:
– Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and backpacks that do not exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″.
– One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
